At University of the Arts, adjunct and full-time non-tenure-track faculty can join as members of the UArts Faculty Bargaining Unit.

  • I'm an Adjunct. Why should I join a faculty union if I don’t know if I’ll be teaching in a year?

Adjunct faculty at Arcadia and UArts have successfully won union campaigns, and so can you! Improvements we make at each school can serve to raise standards for adjuncts at other institutions across the region, and the country.

  • What are the benefits of NCB Membership?

Our NCB Members get the benefits of being a member of our national union AFT (including access to life insurance and member discounts), as well as access to UAP support through Unemployment Workshops, Student Debt Clinics, and Know Your Rights trainings. We also train our NCB members to do organizing conversations with colleagues, so you can plant the seeds of new UAP Bargaining Units anywhere you teach!

  • Where do UAP members work?

In addition to faculty at UArts and Arcadia, our NCB Members teach & work at over 40 colleges and universities across the Philly region. Chances are, there are other UAP members at your school! Contact us to get connected with colleagues who want to build collective power together!

  • How much are dues?

Dues for our Collective Bargaining Units (at Arcadia and UArts) are 1.75% of your paycheck from that school. Right now, only Arcadia adjuncts are paying dues, since UArts faculty do not yet have a ratified contract.
Dues for our Non-Collective-Bargaining (NCB) Members are $12/month.
